Hair Loss, Blurred Vision, and Numbness in Limbs are all Signs of Blood Deficiency; Traditional Chinese Medicine Offers a Method to Replenish Blood Throughout the Body
First, let's look at hair loss as a sign of blood deficiency. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is said that "the luster of the Kidney is manifested in the hair." Hair becomes thick when nourished by the Kidney. Since the Kidney governs the color black, it controls the color of the hair; thus, when Kidney Qi is sufficient, the hair remains black. However, the quality of the hair is determined by the blood, as "hair is the surplus of blood." Individuals in this category are prone to issues like hair loss and thinning, a condition that requires tonifying and nourishing the blood.
Next, blurred vision is also a sign of blood deficiency. Many people, despite being young, suffer from poor vision, experiencing either dry or astringent eyes. This is mostly caused by blood deficiency. TCM believes that "the Liver opens into the eyes," and only when the Liver receives blood can the eyes be properly nourished and see clearly. If Liver blood is deficient and the eyes lack nourishment, symptoms such as blurred vision, dryness, and cloudiness will occur. This condition requires tonifying Liver blood.
Finally, numbness in the hands and feet is also a sign of Blood Deficiency. Our hands and feet are located at the extremities of the body. If there is a prolonged deficiency of Qi and Blood, or if the flow of Qi and Blood is obstructed—much like a river running dry—blood cannot be transported to the distal ends of our limbs in a timely manner. This results in numbness or even pain. In such cases, it is necessary to supplement Qi, warm the meridians, and harmonize and nourish the Blood.
