Deficiency in the Kidney Meridian: Traditional Chinese Medicine Teaches You a Trick—Soak Two Herbs in Water to Replenish Both Yin and Yang
Many male friends often feel general discomfort, soreness and weakness in the waist and knees, a lack of energy and vitality, and frequent urination at night. From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this situation is mostly caused by a deficiency of kidney essence.
TCM believes that the kidney is the "foundation of prenatal existence" and governs the storage of essence. Kidney essence is the most fundamental substance required for human life activities; it generates Kidney Yang to warm the entire body and Kidney Yin to nourish our body and internal organs. If kidney essence becomes depleted due to physical weakness, chronic illness, or excessive sexual activity, it can no longer provide sufficient energy and nutrients to the body. Consequently, issues such as soreness and weakness in the waist and knees, loose teeth, physical fatigue, shortness of breath, premature aging, and early graying of hair will arise. TCM often says that "deficiency left untreated leads to further decline." In such cases, it is necessary to nourish and replenish the kidney essence. Today, I will share a small formula with you consisting of Polygonatum (Huangjing) and Himalayan Teasel Root (Xuduan).
Polygonatum (Huangjing) is sweet in taste and neutral in nature; it is excellent at tonifying Qi, strengthening the spleen, moistening the lungs, and nourishing kidney Yin. It has a significant improving effect on symptoms such as soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, as well as general fatigue caused by deficiency of kidney essence. Dipsacus (Xuduan) is bitter and acrid in taste and slightly warm in nature; it enters the liver and kidney meridians, capable of tonifying the liver and kidneys while strengthening bones and muscles. Combining the two can nourish kidney essence and promote blood circulation.
