The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) records that the spleen "prefers dryness and loathes dampness," meaning the spleen can only function normally in a dry environment. If the spleen is deficient, dampness easily builds up in the body, leading to symptoms such as general fatigue, lethargy, abdominal bloating, loose stools, and stools that stick to the toilet. Conversely, the stomach "prefers warmth and loathes cold." If one consumes cold or raw foods and the stomach becomes chilled, it can cause stomachaches, abdominal pain, and a tendency toward diarrhea. Since the spleen and stomach are the "foundation of acquired constitution," if they are afflicted by cold-dampness, they will fail to function properly. This prevents the generation of Qi and blood and hinders the transformation and transport of nutrients, eventually leading to various health issues.

If you frequently experience abdominal bloating, a lack of appetite, loss of interest in food, chest tightness, a constant need to take deep breaths, loose stools that stick to the toilet, a lack of physical energy, frequent belching, a white tongue coating, or teeth marks on the edges of the tongue, it is likely that heavy dampness in the spleen is affecting the digestive system and causing dysfunction. In such cases, you may consider *Shenling Baizhu Wan* to strengthen the spleen, eliminate dampness, nourish the stomach, and harmonize the middle jiao.

If you consistently have no appetite, a lack of desire to eat, a cold sensation in your abdomen, a preference for hot drinks, and are prone to diarrhea or abdominal pain after consuming cold food; if you also experience cold hands and feet, a swollen tongue, and prominent teeth marks on the edges of the tongue, these are often signs that the spleen and stomach are affected by cold-dampness. In such cases, you may consider Fuzi Lizhong Wan to strengthen the spleen, warm the stomach, and dispel cold and dampness.
