All diseases arise from blockages: four herbs to unblock Qi stagnation, blood stagnation, cold stagnation, and damp stagnation.
First, Qi blockage, commonly referred to as Qi stagnation or Qi depression. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that the liver governs dispersion and regulates the flow of Qi throughout the body. If liver Qi becomes stagnant and the movement of Qi is impaired, it can affect blood circulation. In such cases, symptoms such as fatigue, irritability, melancholy, frequent sighing, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, and distending pain in the hypochondriac regions may occur. At this stage, it is necessary to soothe the liver, regulate Qi, and relieve depression. Shugan Liqi Wan (Liver-Soothing and Qi-Regulating Pill) can be considered as a reference.
Second, blood blockage, commonly referred to as blood stasis. Because Qi moves and blood flows accordingly, when the movement of Qi and blood becomes impaired, blood stasis can form over time. This may lead to conditions such as the "three highs" (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia) and cardiovascular diseases. Sometimes, symptoms like palpitations, chest tightness, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, facial spots, dry skin, cyanotic lips, and ecchymosis on the tongue surface may also appear. At this stage, it is necessary to promote blood circulation and unblock collaterals. Jixueteng Keli (Spatholobus Stem Granules) can be considered as a reference.
Third, cold blockage, when cold pathogens invade our body, it can easily damage the body's yang qi, possibly leading to cold hands and feet, abdominal pain and diarrhea, sore and cold lower back and knees, etc. In such cases, it is necessary to disperse cold and relieve pain, and one may consider using Fuzi Lizhong Wan.
Fourth, dampness obstruction. If the spleen is deficient and unable to transport and transform fluids, dampness tends to accumulate in the body, gather, and form dampness. Symptoms may include heavy limbs, oily face, loose stools, scalloped edges on the tongue with teeth marks, and a white tongue coating. At this point, it is necessary to dry dampness and resolve phlegm. You may consider using Xiangsha Liujun Pills.
Remind everyone that traditional Chinese medicine medication requires syndrome differentiation. If needed, please consult and seek treatment from a professional doctor promptly.
