Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) believes that Kidney Essence governs reproduction and development. If you are young but excessively deplete the essence and Qi in your kidneys, you will age faster than your peers. You may experience symptoms such as premature graying of hair, low energy, weakness in the lower back and knees, tinnitus, decreased physical function, insomnia, irritability, and night sweats. In such cases, besides stopping the indulgence, you must nourish the kidneys and replenish the essence. Additionally, it is best to avoid these three things; otherwise, they will damage the liver, spleen, and stomach, deplete your Yang energy, and lead to an imbalance of Yin and Yang in your body.

First, excessive stress damages the liver. The liver prefers smooth flow and dislikes depression. Furthermore, the liver and kidneys share the same source; if your mood remains depressed or irritable for a long time, both your liver and kidneys will suffer damage.

Secondly, consuming cold drinks and chilled foods easily damages the Yang energy of the spleen and kidneys. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, coldness is classified as Yin, which consumes and damages Yang energy. Yang energy is like the sun; if it loses its place, one's lifespan is shortened and the internal organs suffer. If your Yang energy is severely depleted, it will shorten your life because cold food and drinks primarily damage the Spleen Yang. Since the spleen and kidneys nurture each other, this eventually leads to a deficiency in both Spleen and Kidney Yang. At this point, you will become sensitive to cold, have cold hands and feet, experience diarrhea immediately after eating, and feel a chill around the navel or lower abdomen when touching your stomach.

Lastly, exercising at night can lead to an imbalance between Yin and Yang. As the saying goes, "Work at sunrise and rest at sunset." During the day, Yang energy is vigorous, making it the right time for exercise. However, at night, Yang energy retreats inward while Yin energy becomes dominant, meaning it is time for rest. Therefore, late-night exercise is not recommended. Doing so over a long period disrupts the internal balance of your body, making you prone to illness.
